Complete or full dentures replace all the missing teeth in an arch (upper or lower).  These dentures rest over the gums and jawbone for retention. Partial dentures replace some of the teeth, but not all of them.  They rest on the gums, similar to the complete denture, but they also attach to some of the remaining teeth with metal clasps for improved retention.

Implants are the optimal treatment choice for replacing a missing tooth when the adjacent teeth are healthy. Implants can range from a single tooth to a full mouth rehabilitation.

Dental implants are metal cylinders, which have the appearance of small screws.  They are made of titanium and are surgically placed in the jawbone by a surgeon. They can be used to support single crowns, large bridges and dentures.

We coordinate our work with a skilled team of oral surgeons to ensure an optimal outcome. Once you have completed your treatment with the oral surgeon, you will return to our office to fabricate your new crown. If the implant is being placed in the smile line, we will fabricate a temporary tooth for the duration of the process so that you can feel confident throughout your treatment.

A crown will be prescribed when a tooth exhibits moderate to severe destruction such as a broken tooth, extensive wear, recurrent decay around a large filling or after a root canal. A crown covers a tooth and restores normal function while providing you with the strength, beauty, translucency and feel of a natural tooth.  There are a variety of crown materials ranging from all metal to all porcelain.  Your prosthodontist will help determine the correct crown for your specific needs.

If you are not happy with the alignment, color or shape of your teeth, veneers may be a possible treatment option to update the visual appearance of otherwise healthy teeth. Veneers are thin shells of porcelain that are etched and then bonded to the enamel of the teeth.  A small amount of tooth surface structure must be removed to make room for the porcelain veneer.  Veneers are most often used to correct minor flaws of individual teeth, such as gaps between teeth, but are also placed on multiple teeth to create a more uniform appearance.

Routine dental cleanings are the key to a healthy mouth and beautiful smile. Recommendations on frequency of hygiene visits are based on your specific needs with regards to your oral health. We strive to help you achieve excellent home care with preventative measures that include herbal and baking soda products. These things are sometimes used in conjunction with other prescribed products when needed.

Historically replacing a missing tooth or teeth required the fabrication of a bridge. When fabricating a bridge, at least one tooth on either side of the space created by the missing tooth must be healthy and prepared for a crown. Then a false tooth (known as a pontic) is joined to the crowns, and the entire bridge is cemented to the adjacent teeth. A bridge is not a removable appliance like a denture and special aids are available to keep it clean.

When a tooth has decay or fractures, those areas of the tooth are removed and composite fillings are put in their place to restore the tooth and prolong use for years to come. Material choice will be made with consideration for function and esthetics.

We are under contract with BCBS of MA.  Although we are not contracted as network providers with CIGNA , we are discount dentists.  Please be aware that your policy, with any insurance company, may only partially reimburse services rendered and any balance will be due at the time of your appointment.

Although we firmly believe in the minimal use of x-rays, x-rays allow us to see critical information about your teeth and surrounding oral structures that cannot be obtained through clinical evaluation alone.  X-rays will be taken as necessary to assure a thorough and comprehensive examination.

Although most people are happy with their smile they wish to brighten and whiten their teeth. Many products are now available to accomplish this. These include whitening strips sold in most pharmacies, custom fabricated trays with a bleaching gel used at home or bleaching in a dental office using UV light as the catalyst. There are limitations to all whitening products. Your prosthodontist will be happy to help you determine the best teeth whitening procedures for your specific needs/goals.
